Astro Boy

Synopsis

In the advanced 21st century, technology has exceeded the furthest expectations of mankind. In 2003, a tragedy strikes as Tobio, son of the head of the Ministry of Science, dies in an accident. Grief-stricken, his father, Dr. Tenma, demands the immediate creation of a robotic duplicate of his son – a testament to the miracles of science.

At first, Dr. Tenma is elated by the resurrection of his son. However, he eventually becomes disillusioned with the reality that his new "son" will neither age nor grow. Overcome by frustration, he sells the robot Tobio to a circus, where he is rechristened Atom, also known as Astro Boy.

Eventually, Professor Ochanomizu becomes Atom's caretaker, offering him guidance and support. But life for Atom is fraught with conflict. His heroic efforts to thwart global and even interstellar threats are often overlooked, simply because he is a robot. Authorities are dubious of his actions due to his robotic nature. As a robot, Atom grapples with connecting not only with the humans around him, such as his school friends, but also with his own robotic family.
